Online Reputation Management

It used to be that only celebrities, politicians or superstar athletes had to worry about their online reputations… not so any more! These days with a few keystrokes, there is an endless supply of information to be found about regular people and organizations. For most, the content that will be found in a search is either positive or neutral, but for some, there may be some serious negative content out there.

Gone are the days when the only information “out there” about your or your company was what you chose to post, publish or share. Today, with the rise of social media and the ease of setting up blogs and web sites, anyone with an ax to grind can torpedo your online reputation in a matter of minutes. Search engines are not interested in whether information is true or false, they are only interested in content and popularity. Damaging, incorrect and embarrassing information can quickly leap to the top of a Google search.

So what can you do about it?

  1. Be aware. Make sure you take the time to do a search about yourself and your organization periodically.
  2. Be proactive. Don’t wait until there is a crisis to manage your online reputation.
  3. Take control. Make it harder for others to impersonate you online.
  4. Act professionally. Remember the old adage – never put into writing (or photograph) what you don’t want to have to admit to later.

We work with organizations to take control, manage and shape their online reputation every day. We’d love to talk with you about how we might be able to help you!
